The Bay of Islands Creative Charitable Trust works in collaboration with Creative Northland and other creative and artistic organisations in Northland to support and sustain the practices of artists and creative practitioners in Northland.
One well known and successful event now run by the Trust is KOAST – Tai Tokerau Art Trail, usually run on an annual basis over Labour Weekend. This attracts well over 3000 visitors, many from outside the region with attendant economic and vistation benefits.
This will next be run over Labour Weekend 2025.
Other initiatives include a community bricks and mortar gallery (a collaborative physical community art gallery for use of all Far North District artists), a Youth Art Competition linked into the NCEA Timeframes, the Bay of Islands Creative Online Gallery (an online sales platform for Far North and Northland artists), and of course the continuation of KOAST.
